I placed my little beloved under the protection of the Lord of Mount Sinai,
I have placed my little beloved under the protection of the Lord of the Mount,
I sought protection for my little beloved with the Lord of Mount Sinai,
from the harm of whatever destiny may bring.
from the harm of all that comes to pass out of what is decreed.
From the harm of whatever comes to pass as ordained.

I did not say “my little beloved” to belittle him;
I did not say "my little beloved" out of belittlement —
I did not say 'my little beloved' out of belittlement;
rather, a thing’s name is simply expressed in the diminutive.
rather, the name of a thing grows sweeter in the diminutive.
Rather, a thing's name grows sweeter in the diminutive.
