لا نَومَ لمقلةِ المُعَنّى لا نوم
O people, how long must this cruelty go on—O people?
O people, how long will this unjust treatment last, O people?
No sleep for the afflicted lover’s eye, no sleep.
No sleep for the tormented one's eye, no sleep.
قدindeed برحhas sorely tormented بيme الوجدpassionate longing فمنso who يُسْعِفُنِيwill aid me
قد برح بي الوجد فمن يُسْعِفُنِي
ذاthis وقتكَyour hour ياO دمعيmy tears فاليومَso today اليومْtoday
ذا وقتكَ يا دمعي فاليومَ اليومْ
Passionate longing has tormented me—so who will come to my aid?
