عَيْنيmy eye لِخَيَالِat a phantom زائرٍvisiting مُشْبِهَهُresembling him
عَيْني لِخَيَالِ زائرٍ مُشْبِهَهُ
قرّتْwas gladdened فَرَحاًwith joy فديتُmay I be a ransom for مَنْwhoever وَجَّهَهُsent it
قرّتْ فَرَحاً فديتُ مَنْ وَجَّهَهُ
My eye, at a visiting phantom resembling him,
My eyes welcomed a visitor's image
was gladdened with joy; may I be a ransom for whoever sent it.
With joy - I'd sacrifice myself for the one who sent him.
قَدْindeed وَحَّدُهaffirmed his oneness قلبيmy heart وماand did not شَبَّهَهُliken him to another
قَدْ وَحَّدُه قلبي وما شَبَّهَهُ
طَرفيmy gaze فلِذَاand therefore فيin حسنِهِhis beauty نَزّهَهُexalted him above comparison
طَرفي فلِذَا في حسنِهِ نَزّهَهُ
My heart has indeed affirmed his oneness, and he has not been likened to another
My heart has become one with him though he hasn't become one with it.
by my gaze; thus, in his beauty, it has exalted him above comparison.
My eyes thus attributed beauty to him out of their own imagination.
