تجوهرك الأدنى عنيت بحفظه

وضيعت من جهلٍ تجوهرك الأقصى

وضيعت من جهلٍ تجوهرك الأقصى

You took care to preserve your lower essence,

I sought to preserve your lesser jewel

and out of ignorance neglected your higher essence.

And through ignorance lost your greatest treasure

لقد بعت ما يبقى بما هو هالكٌ

لقد بعت ما يبقى بما هو هالكٌ

وآثرت لو تدري على فضلك النقصا

وآثرت لو تدري على فضلك النقصا

You have indeed sold what endures for what is perishable,

I sold that which remains for that which perishes

and, if you but knew, preferred deficiency to your excellence.

If only you knew, you would have preferred your excellence over my inadequacy
