1. Avoid if you oppose one who is a poet,
For the words of poetry are the worst of insults,
١. تجنب إذا عاديت من كان شاعراً
فإن كلام الشعرِ شرُّ كلومِ
2. And how many cultivated people when they attempt censure
Are theaters of blame in a course of sweetness.
٢. وكم لبني الآداب إن حاولوا الهجا
