تَبرَأُ بِالهَجرِ وَأَدوى بِهِ
فَلَستُso I am not بِالحَيِّalive وَلاnor بِالرَديdead
فَلَستُ بِالحَيِّ وَلا بِالرَدي
You recover through estrangement, while I grow ill from it;
I disavow with estrangement, though it rends my heart,
So I am neither alive nor dead.
I'm neither alive, nor perished away.
أَقولُI say وَقَدand already راحَwent off الأَوانِسُthe young women حُيَّضاًmenstruating
أَقولُ وَقَد راحَ الأَوانِسُ حُيَّضاً
بِنَفسيwith my life غَزالاًa gazelle لاnot يَحيضُmenstruates وَلاand does not يَلِدgive birth
بِنَفسي غَزالاً لا يَحيضُ وَلا يَلِد
I say, as the young women have gone off menstruating:
I say, as the houris depart obstinate,
My life for a gazelle that neither menstruates nor gives birth!
A doe am I, neither conceiving nor to give birth.
