Sa'da's saliva, O son of al-Dujayl, is the cure.
The saliva of Sa’da is a cure,
So give it to me to drink: for every ailment there is a remedy.
O son of Dujail, so give me a drink of it for every malady.

My companions fell asleep, leaving me; I know no sleep.
My companions fell asleep while I know not sleep.
There is a mote in my eye, and sickness in my heart.
There is a mote in my eye and sickness in my heart.

And the tale-bearers say, "You have loved Sa'da."
The slanderers say “You loved Sa’da,”
They spoke truly—by the Majestic One, my love is an incurable ailment.
They spoke truly. My love for the sublime one was barefaced.

I do not see myself surviving; the beloved has departed,
I cannot imagine myself living now that love
and enemies have surrounded my homes.
Has weakened and the dwellings of my enemies have closed in around me.

And this affliction, my hateful neighbor, dwells near my house.

She lived beside us, like water, for a while; then, when
She dwelled near us like water for a time, but when
she departed, there was no water for one parched with thirst.
She left, the well of Harran ran dry.

in whom are flirtation and evasiveness.
With twists and indirect passages between them.

And take comfort in the beloved amid what you face:
Find peace with the beloved whom you meet while
everything but the beloved is hardship.
Everything besides the beloved is affliction.

there is help, but I have none.
But I have no solace.

The loss of one departed is bearable, so long as you are safe.
An appointed term whose outcome I know not,
What soul has found what it desires unclouded?
What soul has attained its desire?

time, consolation comes to you.
Many days consolation will come to you.

The target of misfortunes is not unscathed;
The blows of fate spare no one.
