قَدindeed أَذهَبَhas carried off الداءُillness حُسّاديmy enviers بِكَثرَتِهِمin their multitude
وَلَوand if فَنواthey perished عَزَّwould overpower دائيmy illness مَنwhoever يُداوينيtreats me
Illness has carried off my enviers in their multitude.
The enviers’ illness their multitudes conferred
And were they to perish, my illness would overpower whoever treats me.
And if my foes perished, who then can cure me?
لاmay not عِشتُI live خِلواًfree مِنَof الحُسّادِenviers إِنَّهُمُindeed they
أَعَزُّharder فَقداًto lose مِنthan اللائيthe women who أَحَبّونيloved me
May I never live without enviers, for they are
Had I lived free of enviers, they’re indeed
harder to lose than the women who loved me.
More precious in loss than those who loved me.
أَبقىmay preserve لِيَfor me اللَهُGod حُسّاداًenviers وَغَمَّهُمُand grieve them
حَتىuntil يَموتواthey die بِداءٍof an illness غَيرِnot مَكنونِconcealed
May God preserve enviers for me and grieve them,
May God make enviers live, and their sorrow,
until they die of an illness not concealed.
Until they die of an illness unconcealed.
