ماتَdied اِبنُson of نِهياNihya وَقَدand indeed كاناthe two had been شَريكَينِpartners
Hurayb wept, so honor him with condolences.
Hurayb wept, so comfort him with solace
Ibn Nihya died, and the two had been partners.
The son of Nuhayya died, though they were friends
تَفاوَضاthe two shared jointly حينَwhen شاباthey both grew gray فيin نِسائِهِماtheir wives
وَحَلَّلاand they both declared lawful كُلَّevery شَيءٍthing بَينَbetween رِجلَينِtwo legs
When they grew gray, they shared their wives,
They negotiated when young about their wives
And declared everything between two legs lawful.
And made lawful between them all things
أَمسىhe was in the evening حُرَيبٌHurayb بِماthrough what أَسدىhe bestowed لَهُon him وَغَداand was in the morning
كَراكِبِlike a rider of اِثنَينِtwo يَرجوhoping for قُوَّةَthe strength of اِثنَينِtwo
Hurayb, through what he had bestowed on him, spent evening and morning
Hurayb now has what he gave him, and became
Like one riding two, hoping for the strength of two,
Like two riders hoping for the strength of two
حَتّىuntil إِذاwhen أَخذاthe two set off فيin غَيرِother than وَجهِهِماtheir direction
تَفَرَّقاthe two parted وَهَوىand he fell بَينَbetween الطَريقَينِthe two paths
Until, when the two turned from their course,
Until when they went the wrong way
They parted, and he fell between the two paths.
They parted and fell between two paths
