إِلىto شَيبانَShayban كَهلِهِمُtheir mature men وَمُردِand beardless youths
إِلى شَيبانَ كَهلِهِمُ وَمُردِ
From the love-struck Bashshar ibn Burd,
From one enamored with Bishr ibn Burd
To Shayban, their mature men and beardless youths:
To their elders grayed and unkempt
فَإِنَّfor indeed فَتاتَكُمُyour maiden سَلَبَتshe stole فُؤاديmy heart
فَإِنَّ فَتاتَكُمُ سَلَبَت فُؤادي
فَنِصفٌso half عِندَهاwith her وَالنِصفُand the half عِنديwith me
فَنِصفٌ عِندَها وَالنِصفُ عِندي
For your maiden has stolen my heart,
For your charming one has stolen my heart
So half is with her, and half is with me.
So half is with her and half remains with me
