وَمَسبَحٌ لِلسَمامِ تَعضُدُهُ

وَمَسبَحٌ لِلسَمامِ تَعضُدُهُ

يَهماءُ ما في أَديمِها أَثَرُ

يَهماءُ ما في أَديمِها أَثَرُ

And an expanse for swifts to glide, supported by

a trackless waste, with no trace upon its surface;

كَأَنَّها بِالضُحى إِذا مَرِجَت

كَأَنَّها بِالضُحى إِذا مَرِجَت

يَمٌّ تَداعى تَيّارُهُ الأَشِرُ

يَمٌّ تَداعى تَيّارُهُ الأَشِرُ

as though, at forenoon, when it shimmers,

it were a sea whose unruly current surges.
