أَتَفخَرُDo you boast? بَعدَafter بَنيthe sons of قُشَيرٍQushayr
أَتَفخَرُ بَعدَ بَني قُشَيرٍ
وَأَنتَwhile you are مُخَنَّثٌan effeminate man فيكِin you اِعوِجاجُcrookedness
وَأَنتَ مُخَنَّثٌ فيكِ اِعوِجاجُ
Do you boast after the sons of Qushayr,
Do you still boast, O son of Qushayr,
while you are an effeminate man, with crookedness in you?
Though you are an effeminate man, twisted of mind,
تُعاديyou assail فيin الصَباحِthe morning عَمودَa shaft فَروٍfur
تُعادي في الصَباحِ عَمودَ فَروٍ
كَماjust as تَعدوrush عَلىat القِدرِthe pot الدَجاجُchickens
كَما تَعدو عَلى القِدرِ الدَجاجُ
In the morning you assail a fur-clad shaft,
In the morning you attack the pillar of fur,
as chickens rush at the pot.
As a rooster attacks the cooking pot.
