فَنَعِمناso we delighted وَالعَينُwhile the watcher حَيٌّalive كَمَيتٍlike one dead
فَنَعِمنا وَالعَينُ حَيٌّ كَمَيتٍ
بِحَديثٍin conversation كَنَشوَةِlike the intoxication of الخَندَريسِthe aged wine
بِحَديثٍ كَنَشوَةِ الخَندَريسِ
So we delighted, while the watcher was alive as though dead,
So we enjoyed, while my eyes were moist
In conversation like the intoxication of aged wine.
With tales that flowed like chamomile tea
