أَبناءُsons عَمروٍof ʿAmr لَفيindeed in خَفضٍease وَفيand in دَعَةٍcomfort
أَبناءُ عَمروٍ لَفي خَفضٍ وَفي دَعَةٍ
وَفيand in عَطاءٍbounty لَعَمريby my life غَيرِnot مَمنوعِwithheld
وَفي عَطاءٍ لَعَمري غَيرِ مَمنوعِ
The sons of ʿAmr dwell indeed in ease and comfort,
Sons of Amr are in humility, kindness
And in bounty—by my life—that is never withheld.
And in generosity, by my life, unforbidden!
وَضَيفُand the guest عَمروٍof ʿAmr وَعَمروٌand ʿAmr سَاهِرانِboth awake مَعاًtogether
وَضَيفُ عَمروٍ وَعَمروٌ سَاهِرانِ مَعاً
عَمروٌʿAmr لَبِطنَتِهِfrom his overeating وَالضَيفُand the guest لِلجوعِfrom hunger
عَمروٌ لَبِطنَتِهِ وَالضَيفُ لِلجوعِ
And ʿAmr’s guest and ʿAmr both lie awake together:
A guest of Amr and Amr keeping vigil together
ʿAmr from overeating, and the guest from hunger.
Amr for his belly and the guest for hunger
