وَقَومٌAnd some people يَنظُرونَlook إِلَيَّat me شَزراًaskance
وَقَومٌ يَنظُرونَ إِلَيَّ شَزراً
كَأَنَّas though كُلومَهُمtheir wounds مِنّيfrom me دوامِbleeding
كَأَنَّ كُلومَهُم مِنّي دوامِ
And some men look at me askance,
And some people look askance at me,
as though the wounds I dealt them were still bleeding.
As though their wounds from me were bleeding.
سَيُجديwill be of use حِلمُهُمtheir forbearance أَوor يَنكُرونيthey will not recognize me
سَيُجدي حِلمُهُم أَو يَنكُروني
فَإِنَّfor indeed تَقَدُّميmy warning قَبلَbefore اِنتِقاميmy vengeance
فَإِنَّ تَقَدُّمي قَبلَ اِنتِقامي
Their forbearance will serve them—or else they will disown me;
Their forbearance will serve them—or they will not recognize me;
for my advance precedes my vengeance.
For my warning precedes my vengeance.
