وَكَأَنَّ غَليَ دِنانِهِم في دورِهِم

وَكَأَنَّ غَليَ دِنانِهِم في دورِهِم

لَغَطُ العَتيكِ عَلى خِوانِ زِيادِ

لَغَطُ العَتيكِ عَلى خِوانِ زِيادِ

And it is as though the bubbling of their wine jars in their homes

As though the boiling of their religion in their homes

Were the clamor of al-ʿAtīk at Ziyād’s table.

Is the gurgling of thick porridge in the bowls of increase
