وَقَدand indeed شَذَّبَتكَhave pruned you الحادِثاتُadversities وَإِنَّماand only
وَقَد شَذَّبَتكَ الحادِثاتُ وَإِنَّما
يُفَرِّعُbranches out غُصنُa bough الدَوحِthe great trees حينَwhen يُشَذَّبُit is pruned
يُفَرِّعُ غُصنُ الدَوحِ حينَ يُشَذَّبُ
And adversities have indeed pruned you; and only
The events have pruned you, yet
when pruned does the bough of a great tree branch out.
Only when the branch of the sidr tree is pruned does it spread new growth
