وَهاجِرَةٍand a scorching noontide نَصَبتُI exposed لَهاto it جَبينيmy brow
وَهاجِرَةٍ نَصَبتُ لَها جَبيني
يُقَطِّعُsplits ظَهرُهاits back (peak heat) ظَهرَthe back of العَظايَهthe lizard
يُقَطِّعُ ظَهرُها ظَهرَ العَظايَه
And a scorching noontide to which I bared my brow,
A migrant woman for whom I offer my forehead
Whose peak heat splits the lizard’s back.
Her back breaks against the back of calamities
