يا عَبدَ يا جافِيَةٌ قاطِعَه
أَماhave you not رَحِمتِyou showed mercy المُقلَةَthe eye الدامِعَهtearful
أَما رَحِمتِ المُقلَةَ الدامِعَه
O ʿAbd, O cold-hearted breaker of ties,
O slave, o unfeeling breaker
Have you not shown mercy to the tearful eye?
Have you no mercy for the tearful lover?
ياO عَبدَʿAbd (name) خافيfear اللَهَGod فيconcerning عاشِقٍa lover
يا عَبدَ خافي اللَهَ في عاشِقٍ
يَهواكِhe loves you حَتّىuntil تَقَعَcomes to pass الواقِعَهthe Inevitable (Judgment Day)
يَهواكِ حَتّى تَقَعَ الواقِعَه
O ʿAbd, fear God in how you treat a lover
O slave, fear God for a lover
Who loves you until the Inevitable comes to pass.
Who adores you until the inevitable occurs
