مَحاسِنُ زائِرٍ كَالريمِ غَضِّ
When I turned gray, I was called to sin
She lured me into sins when I grew old,
By the charms of a youthful visitor, like a gazelle.
With transient charms, like meadows fresh with rain.
كَأنَّas though كَلامَهُhis speech يَومَthe day اِلتَقَيناwe met

رُقىً يَأخُذنَ في طولٍ وَعَرضِ
As though his speech, on the day we met,
When first we met, her talk was like a spell
Were incantations spreading far and wide.
That spread through length and breadth, and held me fast.
