لَعُمري لَقَد أَزرى سُهَيلٌ بِصِهرِهِ

لَعُمري لَقَد أَزرى سُهَيلٌ بِصِهرِهِ

وَوَلّاهُمو في شَركِهِ غَيرَ صالِحِ

وَوَلّاهُمو في شَركِهِ غَيرَ صالِحِ

By my life, Suhayl has indeed brought disgrace upon his in-law,

By my life! Suhayl has surely wronged his son-in-law

And, in his snare, set an unworthy man over them.

And made him a partner in his dishonest dealings

أَزَوَّجتُمُ العِلجَ اللَئيمَ اِبنَ سالِمٍ

أَزَوَّجتُمُ العِلجَ اللَئيمَ اِبنَ سالِمٍ

وَما زائِنٌ زَوَّجتُموهُ بِفاضِحِ

وَما زائِنٌ زَوَّجتُموهُ بِفاضِحِ

Have you given a wife to the base foreign brute, the son of Salim?

You have married the despicable weakling to the son of Salim

And one who brings honor, to whom you have given a wife, brings no disgrace.

Yet no adorner marries him to one who disgraces

أَلا يَخرُجُ الدَجّالُ إِن كانَ خارِجاً

أَلا يَخرُجُ الدَجّالُ إِن كانَ خارِجاً

وَهَذا سُهَيلٌ صِهرُ موسى بنِ صالِحِ

وَهَذا سُهَيلٌ صِهرُ موسى بنِ صالِحِ

Will the Dajjal not come forth, if he is ever to come forth,

Will not the Antichrist emerge, if he is to emerge?

When this Suhayl is the in-law of Musa ibn Salih?

And this is Suhayl, father-in-law of Musa bin Salih

فَما أَمَّلَت هَذا لَهُ نَفسُ صالِحٍ

فَما أَمَّلَت هَذا لَهُ نَفسُ صالِحٍ

وَلا كانَ يَرجوها لَهُ في المَناكِحِ

وَلا كانَ يَرجوها لَهُ في المَناكِحِ

So this was not what Salih's soul had hoped for him,

No pious soul ever hoped for this alliance for him

Nor had he hoped for it for him among marriage alliances.

Nor did he seek it himself in matrimony

وَلا خافَ هَذا صالِحٌ عِندَ مَوتِهِ

وَلا خافَ هَذا صالِحٌ عِندَ مَوتِهِ

عَلى عَقبِهِ في نادِياتِ الفَضائِحِ

عَلى عَقبِهِ في نادِياتِ الفَضائِحِ

Nor did Salih fear this at his death

Nor did pious Salih fear, when he died

For his descendants, amid the calamities of scandal.

That his lineage would face shameful scandals
