كَريمٌgenerous إِذاwhen ماemphatic particle جِئتَyou came طالِبَseeking فَضلِهِhis bounty
كَريمٌ إِذا ما جِئتَ طالِبَ فَضلِهِ
حَباكَhe granted you بِماwith whatever تَحويhold عَلَيهِupon it أَنامِلُهhis fingers
حَباكَ بِما تَحوي عَلَيهِ أَنامِلُه
Generous: whenever you come seeking his bounty,
Noble when you come seeking his favor
he grants you whatever his fingers hold.
He welcomes you with all that his palms contain
فَلَوand if لَمnot يَكُنwere فيin كَفِّهِhis palm غَيرُother than روحِهِhis soul
فَلَو لَم يَكُن في كَفِّهِ غَيرُ روحِهِ
لَجادَhe would surely give generously بِهاwith it فَليَتَّقِso let him fear اللَّهَGod سائِلُهhis petitioner
لَجادَ بِها فَليَتَّقِ اللَّهَ سائِلُه
And if nothing were in his palm but his soul,
For if he had naught but his spirit in his palm
he would surely give it away; so let his petitioner fear God.
He would give it. So let his asker beware of God.
وَماand not بعثتhas been brought forth فيamong العالَمينَall peoples فَضيلَةٌa virtue
وَما بعثت في العالَمينَ فَضيلَةٌ
مِنَfrom المَجدِglory إِلّاexcept مَجدُهُhis glory وَفَضائِلُهand his virtues
مِنَ المَجدِ إِلّا مَجدُهُ وَفَضائِلُه
And no virtue has been brought forth among all peoples
No virtue of glory was sent into the two worlds
from glory, save his glory and his virtues.
