كَأَنَّas though زِمَامَthe rein of المَوتِdeath فيin كَفِّthe palm of قاسِمٍQasim
كَأَنَّ زِمَامَ المَوتِ في كَفِّ قاسِمٍ
إِذاwhen الخَيلُthe horses جالَتwheel فيamid الوَشيجِthe spears المُقَصَّدِsplintered
إِذا الخَيلُ جالَت في الوَشيجِ المُقَصَّدِ
As though death’s rein were in Qasim’s palm,
As if the reins of death were in the hands of Qasim,
when the horses wheel amid the splintered spears.
When the horses charged into the intended battle.
