أَقولُI say لِلدَهرِto Time وَقَدand already عَضَّنيhas bitten me
أَقولُ لِلدَهرِ وَقَد عَضَّني
فوهُits mouth بِأَنيابٍwith fangs وَأَضراسِand molars
فوهُ بِأَنيابٍ وَأَضراسِ
I say to Time, having been bitten
I say to fate when it has bitten me
by its mouth, with fangs and molars:
With its incisors and its molars too
ياO دَهرُTime إِنif أَبقَيتَyou spare ليfor me مالِكاًMalik
يا دَهرُ إِن أَبقَيتَ لي مالِكاً
فَاِذهَبthen go away بِمَنwith whomever شِئتَyou wish مِنَfrom among الناسِthe people
فَاِذهَب بِمَن شِئتَ مِنَ الناسِ
O Time, if you spare Malik for me,
O fate if you left me some possessions
then take away whomever you wish from among the people.
Then take whoever else that you want to
