أَقولُI say لِمُرتادٍto a seeker of نَدىbounty غَيرother than مالِكٍMalik
أَقولُ لِمُرتادٍ نَدى غَير مالِكٍ
كَفىsuffices بَذلَthe giving of هَذاthis الخَلقmankind بَعضُsome of عداتِهِhis promises
كَفى بَذلَ هَذا الخَلق بَعضُ عداتِهِ
I say to one seeking bounty from someone other than Malik:
I say to one who frequents generosity though not wealthy:
Some of his promises suffice to match mankind's giving.
Enough that this person gave some of his possessions.
فَتىًa young man جادَgave generously بِالأَموالِwith wealth فيin كُلِّevery جانِبٍdirection
فَتىً جادَ بِالأَموالِ في كُلِّ جانِبٍ
وَأَنهَبَهاand let it be plundered فيin عَودِهِhis renewed giving وَبداتِهِand his initial giving
وَأَنهَبَها في عَودِهِ وَبداتِهِ
A young man who lavished wealth in every direction,
A young man who spent his money freely on every side,
And left it free for the taking, in his renewed giving and his first.
And lavished it during his journeys and sojourns.
فَلَوso if خَذَلَتfailed أَموالُهُhis wealth بَذلَthe generosity of كَفِّهِhis hand
فَلَو خَذَلَت أَموالُهُ بَذلَ كَفِّهِ
لَقاسَمhe would surely share with مَنwhoever يَرجوهُplaces hope in him شَطرَhalf of حَياتِهِhis life
لَقاسَم مَن يَرجوهُ شَطرَ حَياتِهِ
So, if his wealth fell short of his hand's generosity,
So if his wealth failed him, he would give his palms,
He would share half his life with whoever placed hope in him.
Dividing with those who sought from him half his life.
وَلَوand if لَمnot يَجِدfind فيin العُمرِthe lifespan قِسمَةَthe division of مالِهِhis wealth
وَلَو لَم يَجِد في العُمرِ قِسمَةَ مالِهِ
وَجازَand were permitted لَهُto him الإِعطاءُgiving مِنfrom حَسَناتِهِhis good deeds
وَجازَ لَهُ الإِعطاءُ مِن حَسَناتِهِ
And if he found no way to divide his lifespan as he divides his wealth,
And if he found in life no share of wealth,
And were permitted to give of his good deeds,
And giving was permitted to him from his good deeds,
لَجادَhe would surely give generously بِهاof them مِنwithout غَيرِany كُفرٍdisbelief بِرَبِّهِin his Lord
لَجادَ بِها مِن غَيرِ كُفرٍ بِرَبِّهِ
وَشارَكَهُمand he would share with them فيin صَومِهِhis fasting وَصلاتِهِand his prayer
وَشارَكَهُم في صَومِهِ وَصلاتِهِ
He would give them freely, without disbelief in his Lord,
He would give it without ingratitude toward his Lord,
And let them share in his fasting and his prayer.
Sharing with them in his fasting and his prayers.
