1. لما نظر الجفن ضعيفا نهكا

    من فرقته رق لضعفي وبكي

    When he saw my eyelid weak and worn

    from parting with him, he pitied my weakness and wept.

  2. وارتاح وقال لي أما قلت لكا

    ما يمكنك الفراق ما يمكنكا

    And, moved, he said to me, “Did I not tell you

    that you cannot bear separation—you cannot?”
