The passionate lover loosened his bonds in love,

The morning star released its bondage to passion

after guidance had confirmed his adherence.

After fulfilling its commitment to guidance

وانطوى عن منشورِ كلِّ نسيجٍ

وانطوى عن منشورِ كلِّ نسيجٍ

اخلق الدهر بالفناء جديده

اخلق الدهر بالفناء جديده

And he withdrew from every fabric spread out

And folded away every unfurled banner

whose freshness time had worn away through decay.

The epochs renewed their extinction with creation

وأقامت له علائقث حكم ال

وأقامت له علائقث حكم ال

وجدِ معنىً مؤيداً توحيده

وجدِ معنىً مؤيداً توحيده

And bonds established for him, under the sway of

And relations established laws for it

ecstasy, a meaning strengthening his affirmation of God's oneness.

That found no concept supporting its oneness

نزع الكائنات نزع لبيبٍ

نزع الكائنات نزع لبيبٍ

ردَّ لله وعده ووعيده

ردَّ لله وعده ووعيده

He cast off created things as a discerning man would,

It removed creations with the wisdom of the insightful

and referred His promise and His warning back to God.

Returning to God both His promise and warning

تبع المصطفى إمام البرايا

تبع المصطفى إمام البرايا

من أتانا بالمعجزات الأحيده

من أتانا بالمعجزات الأحيده

He followed the Chosen One, leader of creation,

It followed the Chosen One, imam of righteousness

who came to us with miracles [epithet unclear].

Who brought us the most wondrous miracles

كلُّ ماضٍ من الوجود وآتٍ

كلُّ ماضٍ من الوجود وآتٍ

مستفيضٌ منه الأيادي السعيده

مستفيضٌ منه الأيادي السعيده

All beings, past and yet to come,

Everything past in existence and to come

receive from him blessed favors in abundance.

Flows from it, blessed hands outstretched

هذه يا هذيم سيرةُ صبٍ

هذه يا هذيم سيرةُ صبٍ

سار في الركبِ معلناً تعديده

سار في الركبِ معلناً تعديده

This, O Hudhaym, is the way of a passionate lover

This, O Hudhaym, is the life story of a young man

who journeyed with the caravan, openly declaring his count.

Who walked in the caravan proclaiming his counting

يتداعى متيَّماً عن ترائ

يتداعى متيَّماً عن ترائ

لأولى الركب برق أم عبيده

لأولى الركب برق أم عبيده

He swoons, love-stricken, at the appearance

Toppling over, infatuated, beyond arrogance

to the caravan's vanguard of lightning from Umm ʿUbayda.

To the foremost of the caravan, lightning or servant

فهو عبدٌ للسيد ابن الرفاعي

فهو عبدٌ للسيد ابن الرفاعي

صار في قسمة الغيوب مريده

صار في قسمة الغيوب مريده

Thus he is a servant of the master, Ibn al-Rifaʿi;

So he is a servant to the Master Son of Rifa'i

in the allotment of the unseen, he became his disciple.

Who in the realm of the unseen became his disciple

والرفاعي حيدريٌّ أبى الل

والرفاعي حيدريٌّ أبى الل

هُ بأن تطرق الكروب عبيده

هُ بأن تطرق الكروب عبيده

And al-Rifaʿi is Haydari; God refused

And Rifa'i is a Haydari who refused that

to let afflictions assail his servants.

Hardships should befall his servants

قام في أُمَّةِ الولاية فرداً

قام في أُمَّةِ الولاية فرداً

قد تحلى بالخارقات الفريده

قد تحلى بالخارقات الفريده

He stood peerless among the community of saints,

He stood alone among the nation of sainthood

adorned with singular wonders.

Adorned with unique supernatural feats

عاب بالسيرة النَبيِّ وما ها

عاب بالسيرة النَبيِّ وما ها

بَ صنوف المخاطرات الشديده

بَ صنوف المخاطرات الشديده

He censured by the Prophet's example [wording unclear], and did not

He followed the Prophet's path and never

fear the kinds of grave perils.

Feared the varieties of severe tribulations

وانتقى في طريق طه سلوكا

وانتقى في طريق طه سلوكا

كلُّ أحكامه عقودٌ نضيده

كلُّ أحكامه عقودٌ نضيده

And he chose a way of conduct upon Taha's path,

And chose in the way of Taha a conduct

all its precepts necklaces neatly strung.

All of whose principles are robust covenants

نثم الراحة الشريفة جهراً

نثم الراحة الشريفة جهراً

فحبته بالواردات المديده

فحبته بالواردات المديده

He kissed the noble palm openly [reading uncertain],

He openly inhaled the noble comfort

so it bestowed on him lasting spiritual influxes.

Which loved him with recurring abundance

وطوت فيه بالفيوض الكراما

وطوت فيه بالفيوض الكراما

تِ الرفيعات والمعاني السديده

تِ الرفيعات والمعاني السديده

And through spiritual outpourings it enfolded within him miracles,

And folded in him with dignified grace

lofty ones, and sound meanings.

Lofty meanings and correct insights

فصفاتٌ حميدةٌ رقرقتها

فصفاتٌ حميدةٌ رقرقتها

هارقاتٌ من النبي مجيده

هارقاتٌ من النبي مجيده

Thus praiseworthy qualities were made to shimmer

So excellent traits gleamed in him

by glorious outpourings from the Prophet.

Radiant from the glorious Prophet

ألبستهُ كساءها يدُّ طه

ألبستهُ كساءها يدُّ طه

وهي إذ تلبس القبول مجيده

وهي إذ تلبس القبول مجيده

Taha's hand clothed him in its cloak,

The hand of Taha clothed him in his cloak

and it is glorious when it clothes him in acceptance.

While it wears the glorious acceptance

فعليه الرضون ما طاب روضٌ

فعليه الرضون ما طاب روضٌ

أحسن الطلُّ ساجماً توريده

أحسن الطلُّ ساجماً توريده

May divine favor rest upon him as long as a garden delights,

Upon him rest satisfaction, however pleasant the garden

its rosy hue made lovelier by falling dew.

The dawn sprinkled its dew best

وعلى جدِّه الصلاةُ مدى الأ

وعلى جدِّه الصلاةُ مدى الأ

يامِ ما ناظمٌ اجاد قصيده

يامِ ما ناظمٌ اجاد قصيده

And blessings upon his forefather throughout

And upon his grandfather blessings lifelong

the days, as long as a poet crafts his verse well,

As long as a composer excels in his ode

وبدا نوره فعم البرايا

وبدا نوره فعم البرايا

والتوى عاشقٌ فمسَّ وصيده

والتوى عاشقٌ فمسَّ وصيده

and his light appears and pervades creation,

His light shone out, filling the horizons

and a lover bends and touches his threshold.

And melted the lover it touched and ensnared

وعلى الآل والصحابة أهل ال

وعلى الآل والصحابة أهل ال

فضلِ والمجدِ والصفات الحميدة

فضلِ والمجدِ والصفات الحميدة

And upon the family and the Companions, people of

And upon the Family and the Companions, people of

virtue, glory, and praiseworthy qualities.

Virtue, glory and excellent qualities
