وانعطف ثانياً على العشاقِ

Pass with the brimming [cup], O cupbearer.

The cupbearer passed by brimming, O pourer,

And turn a second time toward the lovers.

And bent again over the lovers.

ثم دمدم يا منشد الحانِ واذكر

ثم دمدم يا منشد الحانِ واذكر

عهد خلان حاجرٍ والرفاقِ

عهد خلان حاجرٍ والرفاقِ

Then chant low, O singer of melodies, and recall

Then strum, O chanter of melodies, and recall

The days with Hajir's dear friends and companions.

The days of Khelan and companions.

بابِ وانشر كوامن الأشواقِ

Gladden the heart in the company of the be-

Pure of heart in assembly of loved ones,

loved, and reveal the hidden longings.

Unlock latent passions' doors.

لم يقم نشرها النفاد عليها

لم يقم نشرها النفاد عليها

سرُّ عهد الهوى قديمٌ باقي

سرُّ عهد الهوى قديمٌ باقي

Revealing them has not brought them to an end;

Exhaustion kept them locked, but

The secret of love's covenant is ancient and enduring.

The secret pact of love remains intact.

يا لقيد إطلاقه غير خافٍ

يا لقيد إطلاقه غير خافٍ

وفراقٍ مطلسمِ في تلاقِ

وفراقٍ مطلسمِ في تلاقِ

Oh, what a fetter whose release is not hidden,

If only unfettered, fearing no bonds,

And a parting veiled in talismanic mystery within a meeting!

Nor parting, its cloak would unfold in union.
