عُهِدتْ طَريقَتُنا أُصولاً خمسَةً

عُهِدتْ طَريقَتُنا أُصولاً خمسَةً

تَوحيدُ بارينا وحُبُّ المُصْطَفى

تَوحيدُ بارينا وحُبُّ المُصْطَفى

Our path is known to have five principles:

Our path has been founded on five principles:

Affirmation of our Creator’s oneness and love of the Chosen One;

The oneness of our Creator and love of Mustafa,

والأَخذُ بالشَّرْعِ الشَّريفِ تحَقُّقاً

والأَخذُ بالشَّرْعِ الشَّريفِ تحَقُّقاً

رَغماً لمن بالزُّورِ والشَّطْحِ اكتَفَى

رَغماً لمن بالزُّورِ والشَّطْحِ اكتَفَى

And adherence to the noble sacred law in true realization,

Adhering to the noble law with conviction,

In defiance of those content with falsehood and ecstatic utterances;

In spite of those who are content with lies and raving.

ومَوَدَّةُ السَّاداتِ من أَبنائِهِ

ومَوَدَّةُ السَّاداتِ من أَبنائِهِ

والصَّحبِ بل والتَّابِعينَ أُولي الوَفَا

والصَّحبِ بل والتَّابِعينَ أُولي الوَفَا

And affection for the noble lords among his descendants,

Loving the Masters from among his descendants,

And the Companions—indeed, the loyal Successors too;

And his companions - nay, the adherents to them.

ومحبَّةُ الغوْثِ الرِّفاعِيِّ الَّذي

ومحبَّةُ الغوْثِ الرِّفاعِيِّ الَّذي

نهْجَ النَّبِيِّ على محَجَّتِهِ اقْتَفى

نهْجَ النَّبِيِّ على محَجَّتِهِ اقْتَفى

And love of the Succor, al-Rifa‘i, who

And love of al-Rifā‘ī the succor, who

Followed the Prophet’s course along his clear path.

Followed the way of the Prophet, conforming to his proof.

هي تلكَ إن عُدَّتْ أُصولٌ خمسَةٌ

هي تلكَ إن عُدَّتْ أُصولٌ خمسَةٌ

فيها لِداءِ القلبِ بالسَّيرِ الشِّفَا

فيها لِداءِ القلبِ بالسَّيرِ الشِّفَا

These, when counted, are five principles;

These five, if enumerated, are principles

In them, through wayfaring, lies the cure for the heart’s disease.

In them lies the cure for the heart’s ills through spiritual wayfaring

فاجْعَلْ تحَقُّقَها لشأوِكَ مِنْبَراً

فاجْعَلْ تحَقُّقَها لشأوِكَ مِنْبَراً

فإذا ارتَقَيْتَ بها على الدُّنيا العَفَا

فإذا ارتَقَيْتَ بها على الدُّنيا العَفَا

So make their realization a pulpit for your aspiration;

So make realizing them a podium for your glory

Then, when you ascend through them, may dust cover the world!

And when you ascend by them, you will transcend the world.
