1. يا آخذاً وسط الشآم

    بالقرب من ذاك المقام

    O you making your way through the midst of al-Sham,

    near that shrine,

  2. مقام صياد القلو

    بِ وسيِّد القوم الكرام

    the shrine of the hunter of hearts

    and master of the noble people:

  3. لك من وراثتنا يدٌ

    تعليك ما بين الأنام

    A hand from our inheritance is yours,

    which elevates you among humankind.

  4. وهناك يرميك الجوا

    حد والحواسد بالكلام

    And there you are assailed by the deniers

    and the envious, with words,

  5. حتَّى يكون كلامهم

    شيئاً كغلغلة السهام

    until their words become

    something like the deep piercing of arrows.

  6. لا تكترث بعجاجهم

    فالزور من طبع اليئام

    Do not heed the dust they raise,

    for falsehood is in the nature of the vile.

  7. واصبر فتلك بدايةٌ

    تنجاب عن حسن الختام

    And be patient, for that is a beginning

    that clears away to reveal a beautiful ending.
