يا آلهي بدولة الأسماء

يا آلهي بدولة الأسماء

والتجلي في الطمسة الظلماء

والتجلي في الطمسة الظلماء

O my God, by the sovereignty of the Names,

O my God, with the states of names

And by self-disclosure in the dark effacement,

And manifestation in the dark gloom

والشؤن التي بأمرك قامت

والشؤن التي بأمرك قامت

قبل إبراز هذه الأشياء

قبل إبراز هذه الأشياء

And by the affairs that arose at Your command,

And the affairs which by Your command arose

Before these things were brought forth,

Before unveiling these things

بمعاني الغيوب طياً ونشراً

بمعاني الغيوب طياً ونشراً

بانطماسٍ فلطسمٍ وانجلاء

بانطماسٍ فلطسمٍ وانجلاء

By the meanings of unseen realities, folded and unfolded,

With the meanings of the unseen folded and spread

By effacement, then enigma (reading uncertain), and unveiling,

With obscurity, so clarity and illumination

بفنون الأسرار في كل أمرٍ

بفنون الأسرار في كل أمرٍ

قام معناه تحت ذيل العماء

قام معناه تحت ذيل العماء

By the varieties of secrets in every affair

With the arts of mysteries in every matter

Whose meaning arose beneath the hem of the Cloud,

Its meaning stood under the veil of cloudiness

بمعالي صفات ذاتك والذا

بمعالي صفات ذاتك والذا

ت ومجلا جلالها والبهاء

ت ومجلا جلالها والبهاء

By the sublimity of the attributes of Your Essence, and the Ess-

With the sublime attributes of Your essence and self

ence, and the manifestation of its majesty and splendor,

And its magnificent splendor and brilliance

بالكرلام القديم كل ما قد

بالكرلام القديم كل ما قد

صين أو جاء واضح الأنباء

صين أو جاء واضح الأنباء

By the eternal Word, all that has been

With the ancient speech, all that was

Preserved, or has come with clear tidings,

Laid down or came with clear news

بالنبيين بالحبيب الذي قا

بالنبيين بالحبيب الذي قا

م أو جاء واضح الأنباء

By the prophets, by the beloved who a-

With the prophets, with the beloved who

rose, or came with clear tidings,

Rose or came with clear news

عبدك المصطفى أجل البرايا

عبدك المصطفى أجل البرايا

روحها عينٍ هامة الآلاء

روحها عينٍ هامة الآلاء

Your servant, the Chosen One, the noblest of creatures,

Your servant Al-Mustafa, the best of creations

Their spirit, the essence, the crown of blessings,

Its spirit an eye streaming with bounties

بجميع الأبناء والصحب أنعم

بجميع الأبناء والصحب أنعم

بصحاب النبي والأبناء

بصحاب النبي والأبناء

By all the descendants and companions—how blessed

With all the sons and companions, bestow

Are the Prophet's companions and descendants!

Upon the Prophet's companions and sons

وبكل الأتباع أهل المعالي

وبكل الأتباع أهل المعالي

والرجال الأكابر الأولياء

والرجال الأكابر الأولياء

And by all the followers, people of lofty rank,

And with all the followers, people of loftiness

And the great men, the saints,

And great men, the foremost saints

برجال الديوان والقوم أهل ال

برجال الديوان والقوم أهل ال

حل والعقد والهدى والوفاء

حل والعقد والهدى والوفاء

By the men of the council, and the people of

With the men of authority, and the people of dissolution and pact

Loosening and binding, guidance and fidelity,

And guidance, and loyalty

بصنوف الأقطاب طرّاً وبالأط

بصنوف الأقطاب طرّاً وبالأط

راز والحائرين والنجباء

راز والحائرين والنجباء

By the kinds of spiritual poles, all together, and by the exem-

With varieties of poles, openly and with the allusions

plars, the bewildered, and the noble ones,

And the perplexed, and the elite

وبكل الأبدال أعيان أهل ال

وبكل الأبدال أعيان أهل ال

حال والعارفين والعلماء

حال والعارفين والعلماء

And by all the Abdal, the foremost of the people of the

And with all the substitutes, the essence of the people of spiritual states

Spiritual state, and those who know and the scholars,

And the gnostics, and the scholars

وبكل القلوب أعني قلوب ال

وبكل القلوب أعني قلوب ال

خلص الواصلين والنقباء

خلص الواصلين والنقباء

And by all hearts—I mean the hearts of the

And with all hearts, I mean the hearts of the sincere

Pure ones who have attained, and the spiritual chiefs,

The attached, and the pure

وألولي الإصطلام أهل مقام ال

وألولي الإصطلام أهل مقام ال

وجد والصدق والصراط السواء

وجد والصدق والصراط السواء

And by those of ecstatic annihilation, people of the station of

And those with illumination, the people of the station of passion

Ecstasy, sincerity, and the straight path,

And truthfulness and the straight path

بفهوم جلوتها لذوي الأب

بفهوم جلوتها لذوي الأب

صار فاستسلموا لحكم القضاء

صار فاستسلموا لحكم القضاء

By insights You unveiled to those with eye-

With the comprehension of their majesty, for those of insight

sight, who then submitted to the decree of fate,

So they surrendered to the decree of destiny

بوضوح البرهان في كل شيءٍ

بوضوح البرهان في كل شيءٍ

بغموض الأسرار والإبداء

بغموض الأسرار والإبداء

By the clarity of the proof in everything,

With the clarity of proof in everything

By the obscurity of secrets and disclosure,

With the ambiguity of secrets and elucidation

بك يا من أحطت بالكل علماً

بك يا من أحطت بالكل علماً

وأفضت العلوم للأتقياء

وأفضت العلوم للأتقياء

By You, O You who have encompassed all in knowledge,

By You, O You who encompassed everything in knowledge

And poured forth knowledge upon the God-fearing—

And poured forth knowledge for the pious

فرج الكرب يا مهيمن عنا

فرج الكرب يا مهيمن عنا

وأعنا يا مسعف الضعفاء

وأعنا يا مسعف الضعفاء

Lift distress from us, O Guardian,

Relieve distress, O All-Comprehensive, from us

And help us, O Helper of the weak.

And help us, O Aider of the weak

وتدارك باللطف أنا ضعافٌ

وتدارك باللطف أنا ضعافٌ

وأكفنا شر صدمة الأهواء

وأكفنا شر صدمة الأهواء

And come to our aid with kindness—we are weak;

And take us by gentleness, for we are weak

And shield us from the evil of passions' assault.

And protect us from the evil of capricious passions

وأغثنا واجعل لنا منك نصراً

وأغثنا واجعل لنا منك نصراً

ظاهراً باهراً على الأعداء

ظاهراً باهراً على الأعداء

And rescue us, and grant us from Yourself a victory

And help us, and make for us from Yourself victory

Manifest and dazzling over the enemies.

وأثبنا يا رب فتحاً قريباً

وأثبنا يا رب فتحاً قريباً

وامح ليل الضراء بالسراء

وامح ليل الضراء بالسراء

And reward us, O Lord, with a victory close at hand;

And make us firm, O Lord, with an imminent opening

And erase the night of adversity with prosperity.

And erase the night of misery with joy

وأكفنا وصمة البلاء واغمس

وأكفنا وصمة البلاء واغمس

داء أجسامنا ببحر الشفاء

داء أجسامنا ببحر الشفاء

And spare us the stain of affliction, and immerse

And protect us from the stigma of affliction, and immerse

The sickness of our bodies in the sea of healing.

The disease of our bodies in the sea of healing

واصرف الهم رب والغم وامحق

واصرف الهم رب والغم وامحق

ما كرهناه من ثقيل البلاء

ما كرهناه من ثقيل البلاء

And avert anxiety, Lord, and sorrow, and obliterate

And turn away anxiety, O Lord, and sorrow, and obliterate

What we have loathed of grievous affliction.

What we have hated of heavy affliction

أسرع الغوث يا عظيم فإنا

قد دعوناك فاستجب للدعاء

Hasten relief, O Mighty One, for we

Hasten succor, O Exalted One, for we

Have called upon You; so answer the supplication.
