For they watch over the affairs of the unseen.

And do not stray from a path they have made clear, and be

A lowly servant, standing upright on your feet.

    And guard your heart, O you, in their presence;

For how many wonders of their ways we have seen!

A man, only to be sent back unsound in judgment and dejected.

And how many, how many a lofty one has fallen to ruin through their resolve!

Dust became gold for him amid their raw gold.

And how many a man rich in worldly possessions pursued them:

They enfolded a flame of their might within his possessions.

God be praised for their overflowing hand—how much it has bestowed!

And how many a broken man, through them, overcame his enemies!

Blood from their severing blades, without being drawn.

Whether the foe goes far across the lands or comes near.

    The slayers through immaterial mysteries,

And the worshippers, while night's veil has not been drawn aside,

And those who bestow favors out of their noble generosity,

And those who fill hearts with dread in the darkness,

And those who write with pens, and whoever has written,

And those who take a means to the Lord of the heights—

O how sweet a means it is for making Him known!

And we, the family of Abu al-Abbas, are a chain

That has indeed brought forth noble ones within its ordered structures.

How could he die, having left descendants like us?

I have inherited his inner meanings and his exalted rank,

And I have raised for him a tent-rope above al-Suhā.

That my heart has not turned to any but God.

One with scabies may relish scratching his skin.

    كذا لنا اللهُ في منشورِنا كتَبَا

    Indeed, the final outcomes in the folds of the unseen are ours;

Thus has God written for us in our charter.
