His is a brocade of mystery; in the height of his dome

Are suns of divine workings, with no veils.

And the sea seethes, and the waves are turbulent.

Angels circled his thresholds in companies,

And the gnostics—the men of God—and the Pole.

Blessed be God! A light with no concealment,

    Veiled from evil eyes, hidden.

The subtleties of the unseen have their pavilion pitched

Beside him, where shooting stars have fallen upon the dust.

Its register all that the scriptures have brought.

The face's radiance, as a light whose due must be honored.

Which go forth in the higher world and return.

Minds circled a Kaaba and were dazzled

By a manifestation that is the cause of creation's existence.

Leave aside the clamor of effects, turning

From them toward him: this is the aim and the quest.

With a glance that surpasses worldly goods and wealth.”

Your gathering, bathing it in a downpour the clouds cannot match.

How often a hand from his aspiration's bounty has brought me

To lofty, white eminences toward which desire turns.

And my thought could not conceive of them,

Nor approach their shore in imagination.

And I have hope in him—may it ever remain unbroken—

As I am linked to him, with lineage as the link.

Toward his spacious thresholds journeys a mount

Of my aspiration, with neither weakness nor fatigue.

Excellent are the two wings: this faith and noble standing.

And a dominion whose lowliest dust surpasses gold.

As his glories continue to be dictated and written down,

And upon his family and companions, as long as a songbird goes forth,

Longing for its mate, weeping and sobbing.
