1. للرُّوحِ من رَوْحِ ريحِ الحِبِّ رَيْحانُ

    وللحَقائِقِ في الأَسرارِ بُرْهَانُ

    For the soul comes sweet basil from the solace of the beloved's breeze.

    And the realities have proof within the mysteries.

  2. كم جاءَ بالزُّورِ قومٌ يرفُلونَ بهِ

    كأنَّهُمْ وهو بينَ النَّاسِ ما كانُوا

    How many a people came with falsehood, strutting in it,

    As though they had never existed, while it is among the people.

  3. وأصْبَحوا لا تَرى إِلاَّ مَساكِنَهُمْ

    وللمُحقِّينَ آثارٌ وأَعيَانُ

    And they became such that you see only their dwellings;

    And the upholders of truth have traces and tangible presences.

  4. لا يُعْجِبَنْكَ من الفُسَّاقِ قولُهُمْ

    إنْ أَنْتَ حقَّقْتَهُ زورٌ وبُهْتَانُ

    Do not let the transgressors' speech impress you;

    If you scrutinize it, it is falsehood and calumny.

  5. وكلُّ نشأَةِ غيبٍ تُلْفِ صاحِبَها

    والمُخلِصونَ لأهلِ الحقِّ خُلاَّنُ

    And with every unfolding of the unseen, you find its bearer;

    And the sincere are close friends to the people of truth.

  6. فالْزَمْ رِجالاً أَجَلَّ اللهُ سيرَتَهُمْ

    وكلُّ نيطَتِها ذوقٌ وعِرْفَانُ

    So cleave to men whose conduct God has ennobled;

    And all that is bound to it is spiritual taste and gnosis.

  7. والأَحْمَدِيُّونَ لا تترُكْ محاضِرَهُمْ

    فهُمْ رِجالٌ لَهُمْ في الحَيِّ ديوَانُ

    And do not forsake the Ahmadis' gatherings;

    For they are men with a council in the clan.

  8. للعارِفِ العَلَمِيِّ الحَبْرِ يُعْجبُني

    قولٌ لهُ في نِظامِ الحقِّ تِبْيَانُ

    From the gnostic al-Alami, the learned scholar, I admire

    A saying of his that clarifies the ordering of truth:

  9. إذا طَغى الدَّهْرُ أَو جارَتْ نوائِبُهُ

    فالأَحْمَدِيُّونَ ذُخْري أينما كانُوا

    When time grows tyrannical, or its calamities oppress,

    Then the Ahmadis are my treasure, wherever they may be.

  10. صِرِ ابنَ روحِ مَعانيهِمْ لتَثْنى بهِمْ

    ما كلُّ ابنٍ لروح الحُبِّ سَلْمَانُ

    Become a son of the spirit of their meanings, so that through them you may be praised;

    Not every son of the spirit of love is Salman.

  11. قمْ نَهْنِهِ الكأسَ واشربْ خمرَ حانَتِهِمْ

    واذْهَلْ هُياماً فنِعْمَ الكأسُ والحَانُ

    Rise, shake the cup, and drink the wine of their tavern;

    And lose yourself in love's frenzy—how fine the cup and tavern!

  12. قومٌ لهُمْ برسولِ اللهِ معرِفةٌ

    وفي التَّدلِّي لهُمْ في آلِهِ شانُ

    A people who have knowledge of God's Messenger,

    And in drawing near, they have distinction within his family.

  13. طَريقُهُمْ كلُّهُ سِرٌّ ومكْرُمَةٌ

    وخارِقاتٌ وإذْعانٌ وإيمانُ

    Their entire path is mystery and honor,

    And miracles, submission, and faith.

  14. قاموا على قَدَمِ التَّقْوى لبارِئِهِمْ

    وباتِّباعِ الرَّسُولِ قد دَانُوا

    They stood upon the footing of piety toward their Creator,

    And by following the Messenger they have submitted.

  15. لهُمْ إذا اللَّيْلُ قد أرخَى كَلاكِلَهُ

    دمعٌ يَفيضُ على الخَدَّينِ هَتَّانُ

    For them, when night has lowered its heavy breasts,

    There are tears pouring copiously over both cheeks.

  16. تنظَّمَتْ بطَريقِ الشَّرْعِ همَّتُهُمْ

    ما فيه من نَزَغاتِ الوهمِ أَلوَانُ

    Their resolve was ordered along the path of sacred law;

    In it are no shades of delusion's promptings.

  17. ذَلُّوا لأمرِ رسولِ اللهِ عن أَدبٍ

    وما عليهِمْ لأمرِ الغيرِ سُلْطَانُ

    They humbled themselves before the command of God's Messenger out of reverence;

    And no command of another has authority over them.

  18. هُمْ في مَناهِجِ دِينِ اللهِ حينَ سَرَوْا

    ماتوا على الحقِّ أَشياخٌ وشُبَّانُ

    When they journeyed by night along the ways of God's religion,

    They died upon the truth, elders and young men.

  19. لهُمْ مَعانٍ من العِرْفانِ غامِضَةٌ

    مِضْمارُ نُكْتَتِها ذِكرٌ وفُرْقَانُ

    They have veiled meanings drawn from gnosis;

    The racecourse of their subtle insight is remembrance and the Criterion.

  20. هُمُ الرِّجالُ فلا تجْحَدْ مَفاخِرَهُمْ

    لهُمْ إذا احْتَفَلَ الميدانُ ميدانُ

    They are the men, so do not deny their glories;

    They have an arena of their own when the arena is thronged.

  21. جَحاجِحٌ من أسودِ اللهِ طائِفَةٌ

    لهُمْ بتَرْجيحِهِمْ في القَوْمِ ميزَانُ

    Illustrious chiefs, a band of God's lions,

    They have a balance that tips in their favor among the people.

  22. قومٌ أَبو العَلَمَيْنِ الغَوْثُ شيخُهُمُ

    وهُمْ بهمَّتِهِ عَزُّوا وما هانُوا

    A people whose shaykh is Abu al-Alamayn, the Ghawth;

    And through his spiritual resolve they were exalted and not abased.

  23. من كلِّ شهمٍ كوَقْعِ السَّهمِ رَمْشَتُهُ

    يومَ الصِّدامِ والفُرْسانِ عُنوَانُ

    Each a gallant whose blink is like an arrow's strike

    On the day of battle, and an emblem of the horsemen.

  24. لم يُؤلَفِ الجودُ إِلاَّ من مكَرِمِهِمْ

    ولا تُكِنُّ المَعالي دونَ ما كانُوا

    Generosity has been known only through their noble deeds;

    Nor do lofty heights shelter anything beneath their stature.

  25. تَسَلَّقوا ذِرْوَةَ العَلياءِ عن شَرَفٍ

    منهُمْ مُشاةٌ إلى العَليا وفُرْسَانُ

    They scaled the summit of eminence out of nobility;

    Some travel on foot toward the heights, and others are horsemen.

  26. ما مرَّ آنٌ وما مرَّتْ لنوبَتِهِمْ

    آثارُ مفخَرَةٍ يَزهو بها الآنُ

    No moment passed without their turn leaving

    Traces of glory in which the present takes pride.

  27. هُمُ الشُّموسُ التي في العارِفينَ بَدَتْ

    ما ضرَّها بجُحودِ النُّورِ عُميَانُ

    They are the suns that appeared among the gnostics;

    The blind did them no harm by denying the light.

  28. هذي البَراهينُ في الأَكوانِ قاطِعَةٌ

    ينحَطُّ عن بُرجِها المَعْمورِ كيوَانُ

    These proofs are decisive throughout the worlds;

    Kiwan sinks beneath their inhabited tower.

  29. خُذْها إليكَ بعهدِ الغيبِ صافِيَةً

    واللهُ للمُخْلِصِ المَسْكينِ رَحْمنُ

    Take them to yourself, pure, by the covenant of the unseen;

    And God is all-merciful to the sincere, needy one.

  30. كفى بنُصْرَتِهِ في كلِّ حادِثَةٍ

    إنْ فارَقَ العبدَ أَنصارٌ وأَعوَانُ

    His aid suffices in every calamity,

    If supporters and helpers abandon the servant.
