لعمريby my life أبوAbu (father of) العبَّاسِal-‘Abbas أعلمُmost learned منof those who طوَىwrapped
لعمري أبو العبَّاسِ أعلمُ من طوَى
علىaround العلمِknowledge بعدَafter التَّابعينَthe Successors رِداءهُhis cloak
على العلمِ بعدَ التَّابعينَ رِداءهُ
By my life, Abu al-‘Abbas is the most learned ever to have wrapped
his cloak around knowledge after the Successors.
وأَعرفُand the most knowing حِزْبِthe company of العارِفينَthe gnostics بربِّهِof his Lord
وأَعرفُ حِزْبِ العارِفينَ بربِّهِ
ومنand from ثمَّthere أعلىraised high اللهGod فيهمamong them لِواءهُhis banner
ومن ثمَّ أعلى الله فيهم لِواءهُ
And among the company of gnostics, he knows his Lord best;
and hence God raised his banner high among them.
وعلَّمهُand He taught him العلمَthe knowledge اللَّدُنِّيَّbestowed directly by God واصْطَفىand He chose
وعلَّمهُ العلمَ اللَّدُنِّيَّ واصْطَفى
لهfor him خَدَماًservants فيon نهجِهِhis path أَولِياءهُHis saints
له خَدَماً في نهجِهِ أَولِياءهُ
And He taught him divinely bestowed knowledge, and chose
His saints as servants for him upon his path.
وحقَّقَهُand He established him فيin رُتبةِthe rank of الصِّدقِtruthfulness والهُدىand guidance
وحقَّقَهُ في رُتبةِ الصِّدقِ والهُدى
وعرَّفَand He informed فيهabout him أَرضَهُHis earth وسَماءهُand His heaven
وعرَّفَ فيه أَرضَهُ وسَماءهُ
And He established him in the rank of truthfulness and guidance,
and made His earth and His heaven know of him.
وصيَّرَهُand He made him عنon behalf of سيِّدِthe master of الرُّسْلِthe messengers نائِباًa deputy
وصيَّرَهُ عن سيِّدِ الرُّسْلِ نائِباً
وورَّثَهُand He made him heir to فيin حالِهِhis spiritual state أَنبِياءهُHis prophets
وورَّثَهُ في حالِهِ أَنبِياءهُ
And He made him a deputy for the master of the messengers,
and made him, in his spiritual state, heir to His prophets.
