هواها فؤاداً كلَّما ذكرت حنا

May God preserve the days of al-Ghuwayr, despite the weariness

love for them brings to a heart that yearns whenever they are recalled.

وحيا الحمى الخصب الجنوبيَّ عارضٌ

وحيا الحمى الخصب الجنوبيَّ عارضٌ

يبثُّ به من كلِّ هاطلةٍ فنا

يبثُّ به من كلِّ هاطلةٍ فنا

And may a raincloud greet the fertile southern sanctuary,

spreading there every kind of downpour.

وأغدق هاتيك المفازات بالحيا

وأغدق هاتيك المفازات بالحيا

مجلجلُ رعدٍ قد طوى ألطف المعنى

مجلجلُ رعدٍ قد طوى ألطف المعنى

And may those desert wastes be drenched with rain

by a thunder-pealing cloud enfolding the subtlest meaning.

معاهد أحبابي وقيعان جيرتي

وأحياء قومي من هم الروح للمضني

The haunts of my loved ones and the lowlands of my neighbors,

and the encampments of my people, who are life to the weary—

عليهم سلام الله ما لاح بارقٌ

عليهم سلام الله ما لاح بارقٌ

وحادٍ بعيس السائرين لهم غنا

وحادٍ بعيس السائرين لهم غنا

upon them be God's peace as long as lightning gleams,

and a camel-driver sings for them, urging on the travelers' pale camels.
