فَنيتُ بهِ والوجدُ ينْمي به الوَعْظُ
The reproachers have indeed admonished my longing concerning the one
in whom I have lost myself; and admonition makes longing grow.

ويَخْتالُ في قلبي ولم يَرَهُ اللَّحْظُ
Love converses with me about him by night, so I have not slept,
and he walks proudly within my heart, though my gaze has not seen him.

I reproach my fortune over him—oh, if only once
I could see his face! Alas, if only fortune would help!

Our affairs are deeds; but those who reproach us for
the kinds of love within us—their affairs are words.
