تبوَّأ إذا ضاق الخناق ظلالنا

تبوَّأ إذا ضاق الخناق ظلالنا

و خذ عروةً في الحادثات حبالنا

و خذ عروةً في الحادثات حبالنا

Take shelter in our shade when the noose tightens,

And in calamities, take our ropes as a handhold.

ولا تلق للحساد بالاً بما لغوا

ولا تلق للحساد بالاً بما لغوا

فما مسَّ زور الحاسدين نعالنا

فما مسَّ زور الحاسدين نعالنا

And pay no heed to the envious for what they babble,

For the falsehood of the envious has not touched our sandals.

ونحن بدور الآل آل محمَّدٍ

ونحن بدور الآل آل محمَّدٍ

وقد أعظم الوهاب في الغيب آلنا

وقد أعظم الوهاب في الغيب آلنا

And we are the full moons of the Household, Muhammad's household,

And the Bestower has exalted our family in the unseen.

ففي طيِّ حكم العلم في عالم الخفا

ففي طيِّ حكم العلم في عالم الخفا

غمدنا بفود الجاحدين نصالنا

غمدنا بفود الجاحدين نصالنا

For within the folds of knowledge's decree, in the hidden realm,

We sheathed our blades in the deniers' temples.

لقد أصغرونا والصغار دثارهم

لقد أصغرونا والصغار دثارهم

وقد اكبر البرُّ الكريم خصالنا

وقد اكبر البرُّ الكريم خصالنا

They have indeed belittled us, though abasement is their cloak,

And the Beneficent, the Generous, has magnified our virtues.

وكذَّبهم فيما يقولون حالهم

وكذَّبهم فيما يقولون حالهم

وأيَّد ربُّ العرش بالصدق حالنا

وأيَّد ربُّ العرش بالصدق حالنا

And their own state has proved them liars in what they say,

And the Lord of the Throne has upheld our state with truth.

فلو أنَّهم طافوا الوجودات كلَّها

فلو أنَّهم طافوا الوجودات كلَّها

لما أبصروا فيها كراماً مثالنا

لما أبصروا فيها كراماً مثالنا

For if they roamed all realms of existence,

They would see no noble ones like us within them.

ونحن رجال الله حزبُ نبيِّه

ونحن رجال الله حزبُ نبيِّه

قد اختارنا الباري وأعلى رجالنا

قد اختارنا الباري وأعلى رجالنا

And we are God's men, the company of His Prophet;

The Maker has chosen us and raised our men on high.

سيطمس من أعدائنا كلَّ بارزٍ

سيطمس من أعدائنا كلَّ بارزٍ

ويظهر في برج التجلي جلالنا

ويظهر في برج التجلي جلالنا

He will efface every one of our enemies who comes forth,

And reveal our majesty in the tower of manifestation.

ويبدي لنا في سدرة العزِّ رونقاً

ويبدي لنا في سدرة العزِّ رونقاً

ويبلج في لوح السقيم جبالنا

ويبلج في لوح السقيم جبالنا

And display for us a splendor in the lote tree of glory,

And make our mountains shine on the tablet of the ailing.

وما أقصرتنا من بني الغي عصبةٌ

وما أقصرتنا من بني الغي عصبةٌ

بوسواسها إلا الإله أطالنا

بوسواسها إلا الإله أطالنا

And no band among the sons of error has diminished us

With its whisperings, without God raising us higher.

ويمحق ربي بالنكال فعالهم

ويمحق ربي بالنكال فعالهم

ويثبت في لوح السعود فعالنا

ويثبت في لوح السعود فعالنا

And my Lord will obliterate their deeds through chastisement,

And inscribe our deeds upon the tablet of good fortune.

تزول الجبال الراسيات بعزمنا

تزول الجبال الراسيات بعزمنا

وترهب أسد الغاب طبعاً نزالنا

وترهب أسد الغاب طبعاً نزالنا

The firmly rooted mountains shift at our resolve,

And forest lions instinctively dread doing battle with us.

وإنا من البيت البتولي فتيةٌ

وإنا من البيت البتولي فتيةٌ

شددنا على المولى القديم رحالنا

شددنا على المولى القديم رحالنا

And we are youths from the house of al-Batul;

We have made fast our saddles for the Eternal Master.

رمانا خيالُ الحاسدين بسهمه

رمانا خيالُ الحاسدين بسهمه

فطاش ولم يدرك بآن خيالنا

فطاش ولم يدرك بآن خيالنا

The phantom of the envious shot its arrow at us,

But it missed, and not for an instant did it reach our shadow.

طرحنا بباب الله في الشأن بدأنا

طرحنا بباب الله في الشأن بدأنا

فصان بحفظٍ بدأنا ومالنا

فصان بحفظٍ بدأنا ومالنا

We laid our beginning in this affair at God's door,

So in His care He preserved our beginning and our wealth.

فما خامرت دنيا البريات لبَّنا

فما خامرت دنيا البريات لبَّنا

ولا بلبلت هذي الوجودات بالنا

ولا بلبلت هذي الوجودات بالنا

For the world of creatures has never possessed our minds,

Nor have these realms of existence disturbed our thoughts.

على طور طه المصطفى وخلاله

على طور طه المصطفى وخلاله

نسقنا اتَّباعاً طورنا وخلالنا

نسقنا اتَّباعاً طورنا وخلالنا

After the manner of Ta-Ha, the Chosen One, and his virtues,

We patterned our manner and virtues in emulation.

طوى الله بالبلوى أميَّةَ يوم قد

طوى الله بالبلوى أميَّةَ يوم قد

تعالت بنشر البغي تبغي زوالنا

تعالت بنشر البغي تبغي زوالنا

God folded Umayya away with affliction, on the day it

Grew haughty, spreading oppression and seeking our downfall.

وزالت وقهراً قلَّص اللهُ ظلَّها

وزالت وقهراً قلَّص اللهُ ظلَّها

ومدَّ بكلِّ الكائنات ظلالنا

ومدَّ بكلِّ الكائنات ظلالنا

It vanished, and God forcibly shrank its shadow,

And spread our shade throughout all created beings.

وقدَّ بفصَّال الزوال كمالها

وقدَّ بفصَّال الزوال كمالها

وشدَّ ببرهان الدوام كمالنا

وشدَّ ببرهان الدوام كمالنا

And cleft its perfection with extinction's sharp blade,

And strengthened our perfection with the proof of permanence.

قضت ولأهل البغي محقٌ كمالها

قضت ولأهل البغي محقٌ كمالها

ودمنا وللأحباب نصرٌ كمالنا

ودمنا وللأحباب نصرٌ كمالنا

It perished; its perfection is obliteration for the oppressors,

And we have endured; our perfection is victory for the beloved.

تدلَّت بساحات القلوب قلوبنا

تدلَّت بساحات القلوب قلوبنا

وقد شربت اهل القولب زلالنا

وقد شربت اهل القولب زلالنا

Our hearts descended into the courtyards of hearts,

And the people of hearts have drunk our limpid water.

سما بالرفاعي الإمام ارتفاعنا

سما بالرفاعي الإمام ارتفاعنا

وأفسح ربي بالبطين مجالنا

وأفسح ربي بالبطين مجالنا

Our ascent soared through Imam al-Rifa'i,

And through al-Baṭīn my Lord broadened our scope.

ولما جعلنا للمهيمن ذلنا

ولما جعلنا للمهيمن ذلنا

اعزَّ تعالى بالتعالي دلالنا

اعزَّ تعالى بالتعالي دلالنا

And when we offered our lowliness to the Guardian,

He—exalted be He—ennobled our loving boldness by raising it high.

وأخضع فرسان التدلي ببانا

وأخضع فرسان التدلي ببانا

وصيَّر أقطاب الوجود عيالنا

وصيَّر أقطاب الوجود عيالنا

And subdued the horsemen of descent, all alike,

And made the poles of existence our dependents.
