قف بالركاب فهذه الأطلال

لاحت فآن تزحزح الأثقال

Halt the mounts, for these ruins

have come into view; it is time to lift the loads.

وانزل أمجهدها بحيِّ أحبَّةٍ

لخيامهم فوق النجوم ظلالُ

And alight, you who weary them, at the encampment of loved ones,

whose tents cast shadows above the stars.

حيث العناية والولاية والهدى

والعلم والأخلاق والأحوال

Where there are providential care, sainthood, and guidance,

and knowledge, moral character, and spiritual states.

حيث الندى الفياض والمدد الذي

شهدت بدائم حكمه الأفعال

Where there are overflowing generosity and the succor whose

enduring sway is attested by deeds.

حيث المقام الأحمديُّ تمهَّدت

أركانه وتساقط الأقفال

Where stands the Ahmadi station—firmly laid

are its foundations, and the locks fall away.

نعم المقام ونعم ساكنه الذي

خضعت لبأس جلاله الأبطال

How excellent the station, and how excellent its dweller,

to whose majestic might the heroes have bowed.

شيخي أبو العلمين جحجاح الحمى

غوث الورى قوالها الفعال

My shaykh, Abu al-ʿAlamayn, mighty chief of the sanctuary,

succor of creation, its eloquent spokesman, a man of deeds.

آل الوصي حسامه في آله

ولكل آل في التوارث آل

Of the Legatee’s house, his sword among his kin;

and every house has a house to succeed it.

ربُّ الخوارق و الحقائق مقتدى

أهل الطرائق بحرها السيال

Master of miracles and truths, the exemplar

of the people of the paths, their flowing sea.

الأزهير الرحب الذراع المرتجي

إن ضاق من صدم الحوادث حال

The radiant one, broad of arm, sought in hope

if circumstances grow strait under calamities’ blows.

شمس الكرامات الرفاعي الذي

يعزي لبرِّ يمينه الإفضال

Sun of saintly wonders, al-Rifaʿi, to whose

bountiful right hand beneficence is ascribed.

مستودع السرِّ الإلهي الهزب

رُ الحيدريُّ الأروع الصوال

Repository of the divine secret, the lion—

Haydari, magnificent, fierce in attack.

شيخ الوجود ابو اليد البيضاء من

قصرت عن استجلائها الآمال

Shaykh of existence, he of the white hand,

which hopes fall short of bringing fully to light.

فلك الرقائق والدقائق هيكلٌ

في القوم عن ذات النبي مثال

Orb of tender insights and subtle truths, an embodied form

among the folk, a likeness of the Prophet’s own person.

كشف الحقائق في طريقة جدِّه

وهناك زمجرة الجموح خيالُ

He unveiled the truths in his forefather’s way;

and there, the roar of defiance is an illusion.

وازال بالذل الدلال فذلُّه

عزٌّ لذيله الإدلال

And he banished presumption through humility; thus his humility

is glory, with confident intimacy at its hem.

وأتي بحال المصطفى وخصاله

ولكلِّ داعٍ في الطريق خصالُ

And he embodied the Chosen One’s spiritual state and virtues;

and every caller on the path has his own qualities.

عوِّل بنيَّ عليه في نهج الهدى

فيه اتصال للحمى ووصال

Rely on him, my dear son, on the path of guidance;

through him are connection to the sanctuary and union.

والزم بصدقٍ خالصٍ اعتابه

فلكم بها للقوم حطَّ رحال

And cleave to his thresholds with pure sincerity;

for how often the folk have laid down their loads there!

واذهب بسيرته لربك خاشعاً

ونصيبك الإعزاز والإقبال

And go to your Lord humbly, following his example;

and your portion will be honor and favor.

لا تخش ضيماً إن وقفت ببابه

فبظلِّه تستحقر الأهوال

Fear no injustice if you stand at his gate;

for in his shade you will count terrors small.

واستكف فيه الرجال فإنَّه

شيخٌ عليه الأولياءٌ عيال

And let him suffice you instead of other men, for he

is a shaykh upon whom the saints depend.

اعظم به رجلاً علا متواضعاً

ويقال ما كلُّ الرجال رجال

How great a man he is, rising high while remaining humble!

And it is said: not all men are men.
