عَكَفتْ على أعْتابِهِ الأرواحُ
A shaykh of ours dwells in Umm ʿUbayda;
We have a venerable sheikh in Umm Abida's son
Souls have remained in devotion at his thresholds.
The spirits have settled on his threshold

تَجري مَدائحُهُ بنا وكأنَّها

دارتْ مُرَقْرقةً لنا الأقْداحُ
Praises of him flow through us, and it is as though
His praises flow through us as though they are
Shimmering cups had been passed around to us.
Goblets of sparkling wine passed around for us

A giver of succor—through his spiritual resolve we see the fire of ghada wood
Through his determination we see the fire of anguish
As a garden, and joys wipe away our sorrow.
As a garden, and joys crush our sorrow
