إنَّIndeed عَينيmy eye جُبِلَتْwas fashioned بالأَرَقِwith sleeplessness
إنَّ عَيني جُبِلَتْ بالأَرَقِ
Tell this night: stretch on as long as you wish.
Indeed, my eye was fashioned for sleeplessness.
أَنْتَYou طاوَلْتَyou have tried to outlast صَبوراًa patient one ثابِتاًsteadfast
أَنْتَ طاوَلْتَ صَبوراً ثابِتاً

من مُعاناةِ الدُّجى لم يَقْلَقِ
You have tried to outlast one patient and steadfast,
who has not grown restless from enduring the darkness.

وهيwhile it تَجْريstreams دائِماًalways بالحُرَقِwith burning grief
وهي تَجْري دائِماً بالحُرَقِ
How can slumber find shelter in the eye, O night,
while it streams unceasingly with burning grief?

Leave me free of you and let me be; as for me,
my vigil until the meeting is part of my nature.

سَتَراهُ ساهِراً ما قدْ بَقي
As for me, if part of me is torn apart in love,
you will see it wakeful for as long as it remains.
