Sol 6.1

  1. لنا رَفْرَفٌ من دونِهِ الفَلَكُ الأَعْلى

    وآياتُنا في كلِّ زاوِيَةٍ تُتْلَى

    We have a canopy beneath which lies the highest sphere.

    And our verses are recited in every lodge.

  2. تَمَسُّ شُموسَ الأُفقِ أَرْكانُ بابِنا

    وكاساتُنا في حانِ غابِ العَبا تُجْلَى

    The pillars of our gate touch the suns of the horizon.

    And our cups are polished in the tavern of the cloak's thicket.

  3. طوَتْ دولَةُ السِّرِّ الخَفِيِّ قُلوبُنا

    فصِرْنا لها كَنزاً وقُمْنا لها مَجْلَى

    The dominion of the hidden secret enfolded our hearts.

    So we became its treasure and stood as the locus of its manifestation.

  4. ونحنُ كُنوزُ اللهِ في طيِّ كونِهِ

    أَفانينُنا للعارِفينَ غَدَتْ تُمْلَى

    And we are God's treasures within the folds of His creation.

    Our varied arts have come to be dictated to the knowers.

  5. برَزْنا فُروعاً قد تَسامَتْ أُصولُنا

    فأَكرِمْ بها فَرعاً وأَكرِمْ بها أَصْلاَ

    We emerged as branches, our roots having risen high.

    So how noble it is as a branch, and how noble as a root!

  6. أَقامَ لنا الباري شُؤُناً قَديمَةً

    فأَبرَزَ منَّا القالُ في نسجِها فِعْلاَ

    The Creator established for us primordial states.

    So speech brought forth action from us in their weaving.

  7. ترفَّعْ ولا تنظُرْ سَفاسِفَ حاسِدٍ

    وهل يُصْغِرُ الحُسَّادُ من أَكبَرَ المَوْلَى

    Rise above, and heed not an envier's trifles.

    And can the enviers belittle one whom the Lord has exalted?

  8. لقدْ كَذَبوا فيما رَوَوْا عن زُعومِهِمْ

    وشِينوا كِتاباً مثلَما قُبِّحوا فِعْلاَ

    They have surely lied in what they related of their claims.

    And they were disgraced in writing, just as they were made vile in deed.

  9. وقالَ لهُمْ جلَّ القَديمُ بغَيْظِهِمْ

    غلى الغيظِ مُوتوا قَدْرُ قَوْمي لقدْ جَلاَّ

    And the Eternal One—exalted is He—said to them in their rage:

    Rage has boiled over—die! My people's rank has indeed grown exalted.

  10. عَزانا له ياءُ الإِضافَةِ بعدَ ما

    أَخذْنا بحُكمِ الجِنْسِ مشرَبَهُ الأَحْلَى

    The possessive yā ascribed us to Him, after

    We had taken His sweetest draught by the law of affinity.

  11. وصحَّتْ لنا في ذلكَ الياءِ نسبَةٌ

    فصِرْنا لها من بعدِ تأْهيلِهِ أهْلاَ

    And through that yā, an affiliation was confirmed for us.

    So we became worthy of it after He had made us worthy.

  12. نعم نحنُ أهلُ اللهِ حزبُ نبيِّهِ

    وساداتُ قومٌ ما رَأَوْا غيرَهُ شُغْلاَ

    Yes, we are God's people, the company of His Prophet,

    And masters—a people who found no occupation but Him.

  13. تجَلِّيهِ أَعْلانا وأَحكَمَ أَمرْنا

    فسُبْحانَهُ لمَّا تجلَّى لنا أَعْلَى

    His self-manifestation exalted us and perfected our affairs.

    So glory be to Him: when He manifested Himself to us, He raised us high.

  14. تمسَّكْ بِنا والزَمْ وَسائِلَ ذَيْلِنا

    ولا تبغِ سُعْدى في الوُجودِ ولا لَيْلَى

    Hold fast to us, and cleave to the means of approach at our hem.

    And seek neither Suʿdā nor Laylā in existence.

  15. وكنْ آمِناً لا تخشَ في الدَّهرِ مُزعِجاً

    مُحِبُّكَ مَحبوبٌ وقالِئُكَ المُقْلَى

    And be secure; fear no disturber through the ages.

    Whoever loves you is beloved, and whoever hates you is hated.

  16. يَروحُ شَتيتَ الحالِ لم يدرِ ما الَّذي

    يَشِتُّ به من حُكمِ مظهَرِهِ جَهْلاَ

    He goes about in disarray, not knowing what it is

    That scatters him through the decree of his manifestation, in ignorance.

  17. وللهِ جلَّ اللهُ في العَصْرِ واحِدٌ

    سَقاهُ كُؤُساً من محبَّتِهِ نَهْلاَ

    And God—exalted is God—has one in this age,

    He gave him cups of His love to drink his fill.

  18. يَكونُ بعينِ اللهِ مَنْ قد أحبَّهُ

    ومن مالَ عنهُ ضمنَ عِزَّتِهِ ذَلاَّ

    Whoever has loved him is under God's watchful eye.

    And whoever turns away from him is abased within his might.

  19. تُطارِدُهُ الآلامُ فهو بسَيْرِهِ

    بَعيدٌ عنِ الباري وإِنْ صامَ أَو صَلَّى

    Pains pursue him, so in his course he is

    Far from the Creator, even if he fasts or prays.
