يا حداة العيس مهلا فالحمى

شمسه لاحت وقد هلَّ هلاله

O drivers of the camel train, go gently—for here is the sacred precinct;

O drivers of the white camels, slowly! For the sanctuary—

its sun has gleamed forth, and its crescent has risen.

Its sun has shone forth, and its crescent has risen.

ترائين قباب المنحنى

ترائين قباب المنحنى

وبدا من أيمن الجزع خياله

وبدا من أيمن الجزع خياله

Come into view, O domes of the winding vale,

The domes at the bend have come into view,

for from the valley’s right-hand side his form has appeared.

And its silhouette has appeared from the right of the valley bend.

فأريضوا العيس إعظاماً لمن

فأريضوا العيس إعظاماً لمن

أقربتكم منه لازال ظلاله

أقربتكم منه لازال ظلاله

So rein in the camels, in reverence for the one

So let the white camels rest, in reverence for him

to whom they have brought you near—may his shade never cease.

To whom they brought you near—may his shade endure.

روح أهل الله مصباح الهدى

روح أهل الله مصباح الهدى

حبُّ هلاق الورى جلَّ جلاله

حبُّ هلاق الورى جلَّ جلاله

The spirit of the people of God, the lamp of guidance,

The soul of God's people, the lamp of guidance,

the Beloved of the Creator of all beings—exalted is His majesty.

مظهر السر الإلهي الذي

مظهر السر الإلهي الذي

لم يقم في عالم الملك مثاله

لم يقم في عالم الملك مثاله

The manifestation of the divine secret, he whose

The manifestation of the divine mystery, whose

likeness has never stood in the realm of earthly dominion.

Equal has never arisen in the material world.

سرُّ هذا الكون في طي العما

سرُّ هذا الكون في طي العما

نوره المحض الذي لاح جماله

نوره المحض الذي لاح جماله

The secret of this universe, enfolded in the cloud of unknowing,

The secret of this cosmos, within the folds of the cloud,

his pure light, whose beauty shone forth.

Is his pure light, whose beauty has shone forth.

قام في دولةِ برهان العلى

قام في دولةِ برهان العلى

علماً فرداً محا الغيَّ نصاله

علماً فرداً محا الغيَّ نصاله

He arose in the dominion of the proof of loftiness,

He arose in the dominion of the proof of sublimity,

a peerless standard whose arrows effaced all error.

A peerless standard, whose blades effaced error.

بدره المشرق في برج النهى

بدره المشرق في برج النهى

حيَّر الألباب يا عزَّ كماله

حيَّر الألباب يا عزَّ كماله

His radiant full moon shines in the constellation of intellect,

His radiant full moon, in the celestial mansion of reason,

bewildering every mind—ah, how mighty his perfection!

Has bewildered minds—O the glory of his perfection!

هو بين الأنبياء المصطفى

هو بين الأنبياء المصطفى

ولفضلٍ سادة الرسل عياله

ولفضلٍ سادة الرسل عياله

Among the prophets, he is the Chosen One,

He is the Chosen One among the prophets,

and through his bounty, even the masters of the messengers are his dependents.

And in excellence, the foremost messengers are his dependents.

لم يكن ينطق آناً عن هوىً

لم يكن ينطق آناً عن هوىً

ولوجه الله والله فعاله

ولوجه الله والله فعاله

Never for an instant did he speak from desire,

He never spoke, even for an instant, from whim,

and every deed of his was for God’s countenance—by God.

And his deeds, by God, were for God's countenance.

نحن في أمَّته من نوره

نحن في أمَّته من نوره

لمعةٌ غذ نحن في النسبة آله

لمعةٌ غذ نحن في النسبة آله

We, within his community, are of his light:

We, in his community, from his light,

a glimmer—for through affiliation, we are his family.

Are a gleam—[since?] we are his family by lineage.
