She sent me an apple she had carved
You sent me an apple you had carved
From a heart consumed with love for her.
Out of a heart that burned with love for me,
وَعَلَيهاand upon it كِتابَةٌan inscription مِنof عَبيرٍperfume
وَعَلَيها كِتابَةٌ مِن عَبيرٍ
ياO حَبيبيmy beloved مِنّيfrom me عَلَيكَto you سَلاميmy greetings
يا حَبيبي مِنّي عَلَيكَ سَلامي
And upon it was an inscription in perfume:
And on it was a scent that bore the words:
O my beloved, from me to you, my greetings.
"My love, I send my loving thoughts to thee."
