ياO مُغرَماًone enamored بِالسُمرِof dark-skinned beauties ماnot
يا مُغرَماً بِالسُمرِ ما
أَناI فيهِمُregarding them لَكَto you مُتَّبِعa follower
أَنا فيهِمُ لَكَ مُتَّبِع
O you enamored of dark beauties, I am not
O you who are infatuated with vigil
your follower in loving them.
I do not follow your way
لَكِنbut عَلىupon حُبِّlove of الحِساthe beau-
لَكِن عَلى حُبِّ الحِسا
نِ-ties البيضِthe fair-skinned قَلبيmy heart قَدindeed طُبِعwas fashioned
نِ البيضِ قَلبي قَد طُبِع
But for the love of beau-
But my heart is imprinted
-ties fair of skin, my heart was fashioned.
With love for chaste women
الحَقُّthe truth أَبيَضُwhite أَبلَجٌradiant
الحَقُّ أَبيَضُ أَبلَجٌ
وَالحَقُّand the truth أَولىmost worthy ماthat which اِتُّبِعis followed
وَالحَقُّ أَولى ما اِتُّبِع
Truth is white and radiant,
Truth is purely white
and truth is the worthiest thing to follow.
Truth is the most worthy to be followed
