أَفلَستُI have run out ياسَيِّديO my master مِنof الوَرَقِpaper
أَفلَستُ ياسَيِّدي مِن الوَرَقِ
فَاِبعَثso send بِدُرجٍa paper roll كَعِرضِكَlike your honor اليَقَقِpure white
فَاِبعَث بِدُرجٍ كَعِرضِكَ اليَقَقِ
I have run out of paper, my master.
I ran out of paper, my lord
So send a roll as pure white as your honor.
So send some that's as broad as your generosity
وَإِنand if أَتىit comes بِالمِدادِwith ink مُقتَرِناًaccompanied
وَإِن أَتى بِالمِدادِ مُقتَرِناً
فَمَرحَباًthen welcome بِالخُدودِto the cheeks وَالحَدَقِand the pupils
فَمَرحَباً بِالخُدودِ وَالحَدَقِ
And if it comes accompanied by ink,
And if ink comes paired with it
Then welcome to cheeks and pupils!
Then blessings on cheeks and eyes!
مَولايَmy lord سَيَّرتُI sent ماwhat أَمَرتَyou requested بِهِconcerning it
مَولايَ سَيَّرتُ ما أَمَرتَ بِهِ
وَهوَand it is يَسيرُa little المِدادِink وَالوَرَقِand paper
وَهوَ يَسيرُ المِدادِ وَالوَرَقِ
My lord, I have sent what you requested,
My lord, I did as you commanded
And it is only a little ink and paper.
And it's easy to send ink and paper
وَعَزَّand was difficult عِنديfor me تَسييرُsending ذاكَthat وَقَدand already
وَعَزَّ عِندي تَسييرُ ذاكَ وَقَد
شَبَّهتَهُyou likened it بِالخُدودِto the cheeks وَالحَدَقِand the pupils
شَبَّهتَهُ بِالخُدودِ وَالحَدَقِ
And sending that was hard for me, since
Yet that task was dear to me since
You had likened it to cheeks and pupils.
You likened it to cheeks and eyes
