حَبَّhow lovely النَسيمُthe breeze عَليلاًailing
حَبَّ النَسيمُ عَليلاً
وَهُوَand it is النَسيمُthe breeze الصَحيحُhealthy
وَهُوَ النَسيمُ الصَحيحُ
How lovely the ailing breeze,
The breeze loved the invalid
yet it is a breeze in good health.
Though it was a healthy breeze
وَطابَand has become pleasant وَقتُكَyour time فَاِنهَضso rise
وَطابَ وَقتُكَ فَاِنهَض
فَالآنَfor now طابَhas become delightful الصَبوحُthe morning draught
فَالآنَ طابَ الصَبوحُ
And your hour is pleasant, so rise,
And your time became pleasant so arise
for now the morning draught is delightful.
For now the dawn has become pleasant
وَخُذand take عَنِfrom الكَأسِthe cup نوراًa light
وَخُذ عَنِ الكَأسِ نوراً
يُضيءُshines مِنهُfrom it الفَسيحُthe wide expanse
يُضيءُ مِنهُ الفَسيحُ
And draw from the cup a light
And take from the cup a light
that makes the wide expanse shine,
That illuminates the vast wilderness
مِنfrom قَهوَةٍwine طابَis delightful مِنهاfrom it
مِن قَهوَةٍ طابَ مِنها
طَعمٌtaste وَلَونٌand color وَريحُand fragrance
طَعمٌ وَلَونٌ وَريحُ
from wine, delightful in
From coffee that was pleasant in it
taste, color, and fragrance.
A taste, a color, and a smell
فيin دَنَّهاits wine jar هِيَit راحٌwine
في دَنَّها هِيَ راحٌ
وَفيand in الحَشاthe breast هِيَit روحُspirit
وَفي الحَشا هِيَ روحُ
In its jar it is wine,
In its softness is comfort
and in the breast it is spirit.
And in its strong is life
ياO اِبنَson of الكِرامِthe generous إِلىuntil كَمhow long
يا اِبنَ الكِرامِ إِلى كَم
عَلَيَّtoward me أَنتَyou شَحيحُmiserly
عَلَيَّ أَنتَ شَحيحُ
O son of the generous, how long
Oh son of nobles, for how long
will you be miserly toward me?
Are you so stingy with me
أَنتَyou المُعَذِّبُthe tormentor of قَلبيmy heart
أَنتَ المُعَذِّبُ قَلبي
وَقَلبُكَand your heart المُستَريحُat ease
وَقَلبُكَ المُستَريحُ
You are the tormentor of my heart,
You torture my heart
while your heart is at ease.
While your heart rests
