وَإِنّي إِذا اِرتابَ الوُشاةُ لِأَدمُعي

لَذو حُجَجٍ لَم يُبدِها عاشِقٌ قَبلي

And if ever the slanderers doubt my tears

I have arguments that no lover has revealed before

وَأَستَعمِلُ الكُحلَ الَّذي فيهِ حِدَّةٌ

وَأوهِمُ أَنَّ الدَمعَ مِن حِدَّةِ الكُحلِ

And I use kohl that has some sharpness

And I pretend that the tears are from the sharpness of the kohl

فَيا صاحِبي أَمّا عَلَيَّ فَلا تَخَف

فَما يَطمَعُ الواشونَ في عاشِقٍ مِثلي

So my friend do not worry about me

For the slanderers cannot aspire to a lover like me

وَدَعنِيَ وَالعُذّالَ مِنّي وَمِنهُمُ

سَيَدرونَ مَن مِنّا يَمَلُّ مِنَ العَذلِ

And leave me and the blamers from me and from them

They will know who among us will tire of blaming
