Love has been renewed once more,
though youth's powers are feeble.

So I fell in love, but attained no hope,
nor did I preserve my standing.

by God—will it happen again.

regrets for it remain.

O heart, how many a backward glance is yours,
demanding its due from youth!

than a new one borrowed.

By your lives, by your lives,
that affection still remains.
