وَزَيَّنهاand adorned her المَلاحَةُbeauty وَالوَقارُand dignity
I fell in love with her when her charms were complete,
And beauty and dignity adorned her.
فَماso not طالَتshe was tall وَلاnor قَصُرَتshe was short وَلَكِنbut
مُكَمَّلَةًperfectly formed يَضيقُis tight بِهاaround her الإِزارُthe waist-wrap
So she was neither tall nor short, but
Perfectly formed, her waist-wrap tight about her.
قَوامٌa figure بَينَbetween ذَلِكَthat بِاِعتِدالٍin due proportion
فَلاso no طولٌtallness يُعابُis faulted وَلاnor اِختِصارُshortness
A figure balanced between the two,
With neither tallness nor shortness to fault.
وَشَعرٌand hair واصَلَreached الخَلخالَthe anklet مِنهاof hers

And hair that reached her anklet,
So her earring grew restless with jealousy.
حَكَتshe resembled فَصلَthe season of الرَبيعِspring بِحُسنِin the beauty of قَدٍّa figure
تَساوىwere equal اللَيلُthe night فيهِin it وَالنَهارُand the day
She resembled springtime in her lovely figure,
Where night and day were equal.
